Hi guys.
I have an update but not a proper one. I am still chasing this up, and hope to have a reply soon.
I am happy that we have so many people, probably nearly as many as XPower purchased in the first place!
I promise I have not forgotton. We think there is a jig or at least some template pairs kicking around.
I'll add my name as an expression of interest. Saloon, ovals, please.
Stu
I've added you to the list
My savings jar full of pennies would never get me a visit to Dreadnought before my car reaches 100k :( so a set of shiny new zorsts would be the next best. Add me to the list for a set of quads.
Thanks Brian, that one post has just changed all my plans ;)
Time to start some serious saving :D , hold those zorsts.
Left you off for now Dave
Let me know if you change your mind
Hi Ross
Any update on your discussions with Janspeed - as we understand it Xpart are putting the Xpower boxes back into production
I too would be interested, but as with everyone else it depends on price. Quads, saloon please
A pair of spare ovals for my LHD ZT-T would be nice. Also depending on price though.
Hi
Is there any update on this? After hearing XPowers in the flesh a couple of times, I've decided to replace my standard exhausts.
Also, how does the news that XPart are going to be making the exhausts again (Scooter's post) affect this initiative?
Hopefully T16 will be along to update soon
It may be that Janspeed are not keen to supply us if Xpart are back in the game
saloon depending on price

List updated,
T16 - do you have any news yet
Not yet.
Starting to get very irritated, but I will persevere and I hope to have something soon.
Are there any news on that?
Will start in the summer with new exhausts. (hope so:D)
NO sorry I'm not volunteering to do anything - I have just done my bit with the handbrake cables - but I recall being in touch with a company in the Bristol area who build specialised stainless steel exhausts. If I remember correctly a fellow member had had replica Zero units made for around £300 the pair and seemed well pleased. I enquired mid-last year and the price was then £350 but that was based upon just one enquiry - perhaps it's worth looking in to?
Finding somewhere that could make some is not the difficult part. I've no doubt the company I used to have mine made could do it (FWIW mine were £300 a pair fully fitted).
The problem is to reproduce the X-Powers closely requires an example to copy. This process could entail cutting one open.
Unfortunately due the rarity and value unless an odd cheap X-power can be located to use for reverse engineering, I cant see any progress being made in this direction :(
The best option is probably trying to convince the original manufacturer there is great enough demand for them to make a batch, or at least getting them to quote for a batch of 10 pairs say, and then find a way of raising funds to get them manufactured.
D'oh! a new single tourer V8 XPower went for approx £80 on ebay not that long ago! I was semi tempted to buy it and wait for the opposite side one to surface!
Wonder what a 260 on Cherry Bombs sounds like?
:~
I have been considering testing that out, as the place that made my silencers also happens to sell them.
He fitted a pair to the blue 4WD V8 midget that was on show at Stonelegh a couple of years ago, car also now has a mad max style throttle body sticking through the bonnet :D
Hi, just out of interest I have just got a quote from a company in the Midlands and they have provided a price of £179 per box inc VAT made whilst you wait. They look like top quality S/S units and you can select the amoint of noise you want and they have software which will give you some idea before you commit yourself. Loads of choices on tail pipe configurations as well.

Regarding X Powers, I am sure anyone can make similar exhausts in fact exhausts that nobody would be able to tell the difference, but surely the value in the X Powers is that they are original MG ones no matter how silly that may be?
A bit like an antique book, first versions sell for silly money yet you can still get the book for £2 from smiths!
Not that I am biased at all...
Vroom Vroom!
:drive
I have experienced X Powers on 455, standard silencers on 288 and these custom made tail pipes on 700 (but I don't know where they were made) and the latter is so far my favourite - a really nice sound, but not too noisy. :)
Perhaps I need to re-evaluate the X Powers with the famous sleeves. :D

Kevin was making combined quads like that, try him.
I think Martin (Merl) has a set of similar design on his 260. He may know who/what/where/when :)
