Thanks, Pete. It's been on 'the radar' for some time now,
see: https://www.two-sixties.co.uk/mgoc26...995#post184995
Gets de-listed and then pops up again a couple of weeks later! It had become pushed down in the Complete List a bit because of the earliest listing date, so that's why you missed it maybe.
Surprised to see that it hasn't already sold earlier, and even more surprised by the current price.
David
Apart from repeated MOT fails on brake pipes and rear tyres its history looks OK.
Maybe it looks better in the pictures than in the flesh.
At that price it should sell unless that low price puts people off.
Steve
Ross, I guess contacting Steve by PM or Facebook Messenger, like it says in the posting, would be the best way to find out. I believe it is still for sale, though.
The post above and this reply moved to this thread from the "Complete List of 260s For Sale" for clartity (David)

Re: Damaged Monogram MG ZTT V8 SE for sale
Have now found some long term storage so will be able to keep it and get it repaired. Could an administrator please remove it from the for sale section. Thx and all the best, JB
Assuming we are talking about the black R75V8 in Ealing, then those "seriously interested individuals" also posted their views on the MG Rover 260 V8 Owners and Enthusiasts FB group, so if I were to say anything, it would only be reported speech. One of those I can say, was Julian Anderson, so if you search around for comments posted there, you may get more information from the "horse's mouth" as it were.
It would be unfair of me to say more, not having personally seen the car.
David
I'm not on Facebook, so I'm happy that whatever comments you relay to me are heresy.
Oh and nobody could touch you for anything you say anyway.
Edit, Wild Rover will vouch that I'm not a troll BTW. 15 or 16 years ago this week, I raced him down to Le Mans, him in his 260 and me in a 190.
Sorry, not being pedantic, but it is a closed group on Facebook, which I think one should honour. Matter of principle. The same applies to postings here on the Forum in non-public sections, I feel.
Easy enough to join, though. You will not be risking anything yourself by making an FB account and joining the group concerned. You do not divulge personal information by doing that. Up to you.
Sorry.
David
I'm won't be joining Facebook to read somebody's opinions of a used car, thanks all the same.
David and I recently had a brief argument and ..words ..together. Maybe it was my fault, maybe it was his. But, from my part , its all over and in the past and forgotten.
Invariably, Men and Cars, Men And Sport..well it leads to ..crossed swords ..some times. Then..all is forgiven ..and were all Mates again
.
Regarding Davids Service to our Club..and particularly his -Cars for Sale - Club Feature, it?s absolutely brilliant, and we should all be extremely grateful for all the work he does researching it, compiling the Information, and posting it every day, which he has takes two or three hours a day .
David is completely correct in his stance re Confidently and neutrality . We dont want to step on the FaceBook 260ers Toes, and they don?t want to step on ours..in the sense of relaying information.
IF you are genuinely seeking to purchase a 260..go down and look at it yourself . I bought my 260 in Glasgow.I spoke to the Dealer..extensively..he told me if I didn?t agree with his description of the Car..he would refund my Travel Expenses.
I went up there..looked at it..it was exactly as the Dealer had described..FSH..Mint Condition..never been painted anywhere ..and it drove perfect..as new. Consequently, I bought it with my Card. End of story.
If David gives out his personal opinions, nudge nudge ..wink wink ..I wouldnt bother looking if I was you etc...the Confidential aspect of any discussions between Cars up for sale owners ..and David...would be buggered up. The potential owners would say to the Cars for sale owners.. hey mate..David says that Car of yours is crap..not coming to look at now .
David is a Club official after all , he cant be some kind of sneak.
Futher more ...NEVER ..ask anyones opinions on a Car for Sale anyway. Do your own research, find out information, speak to people with some knowledge on the Particular Make / Model of Car...but dont take their advice alone...go and look at the thing yourself .
I lost three fantastic buys..listening ..experts.. kind advice.. A concours condition Lancia Coupe..
with 2,00omile on the clock Mint BMW RS 100 Motorbike, and a Fantastic .. wooden chassis Marcos Coupe ..which would have been worth £35,000 now .
WHY did I lose these great buys...BMW..the Bastard I called for advice..a BMW / MOTO GUZZIE Dealer..said no don?t buy it. Next day he went down and bought it himself . He was a titled a Baron . The Lancia..head of the Lancia Club ..yes you guessed ..went down the following day..after saying don?t buy it...and bought it himself . The Marcos..well it was just a feud between Jem Marsh , the Owner Of Marcos Cars, and the Seller .. an ex Marcos employee . BUT..I lost a fantastic buy..listening to others. AND..I didnt know enough about the Car ..before I went to see it etc
Anyway, I dont t think Davids done anything to receive Critique for on this matter in Question .Seems like a lot of fuss over bugger all really . IF David, Nich, etc etc ..didnt do all the stuff they do for the Club..there wouldn?t be a Club.
Who the F is going to spend 3 hours a day ..compiling, researching, and posting up all information concerning 260?s For Sale ...if David said ...oh bollocks ...I?m finishing with it all.
None of us perfect, we arent always in the right ( although we think we are ) , and we must maintain Civility between ourselves .Disagree ..yes, debate ..yes ....but we must not get personal, rude , and ignorant with each other.
Peace Out .
Harry has put it perfectly in post 494. David does do a fantastic job of compiling and updating the cars for sale and he’s correct in not passing on someone else’s opinion. Imagine the shit storm from a new owner if he said the car was excellent and it turned out not to be so. If you’re buying a car go see it for yourself, when I bought 342 I asked opinions on here and what I didn’t know was the man selling it was a trusted trader of V8 cars and it was as described but it isn’t always like that. I’d a 1,000 mile round trip to collect my car, so if you’re serious in purchasing a car distance doesn’t come into it. Sometimes this forum is seen by some as a secret squirrel but it has done extensive research and work over the years and I for one respect the work done and will not disclose anything from here unless it is a common problem across all models and I always guide any new potential owner’s from Facebook to the forum
Well said Harry and Les
Another voice here grateful for David's work!

I am selling my much loved 260 SE, #171. I have owned the car for 5 years and finding less and less time to drive. Only covered a few hundred miles between the last MOTs
The Monogram Mirage bodywork in very good condition
X power exhausts
Aftermarket racing cams with Accufab throttle body (Unique sound)
MSD Coil Packs
Underdrive pulley kits
All interior dials and switches changed to blue
Uprated club heater hose fitted
260 mats
This year I have spent £2.5k with new slave and master cylinder, new clutch, full service (every fluid and plugs) rusted fixings in bay all replaced. All carried out by Austin Garages where the car is very well known with myself and previous owner. Only other garage used is Summit Garage, MG specialists.
Service file is very comprehensive with over £16K of receipts.
Still don’t know whether I am doing the right thing but seems a shame to sit in a garage. This is a very good example with no expense spared. Would really like this to go to an enthusiast to keep the car in this condition.
Richard Clift.
Is the owner on here?
Don't think so, but I will try and contact John to see if it is indeed his car, and is a photograph to which he has rights, and, if so, has given permission to the auction house to use it. In any event I will remove/replace the photo in our complete list, to be sure.
I tend to assume that a photo published in that way would be the legal property (or vested right) of the publisher. Not always correct, maybe. Thanks for pointing that out gents !
David
I've got a reply from John confirming that it is indeed his car in the photo, and that his car is NOT for sale !
He is contacting the Auction house.
David
Gotta love the internets, where you can't get away with anything.
Yep. Could well be though, that if the photo was taken of the car in a public place, like the POL for example, the person who took the photo probably has more rights than John! Depends how it came to be in the auction house's photo library, though.
Strange world ...
David
Who is going to get the SHOT SILK at Anglia Car Auctions tomorrow?

Ok so I?ve decided to put No #97 up for sale, I?ve owned the car for just over 4 years and enjoyed every minute driving it. Its now time for someone else to enjoy.
It is the SE model
MK1 2003
Its covered almost 97000 miles with full service history up to 94000 miles
Last service included oil, coolant, brake fluid, gearbox oil, and diff oil replacement
M.O.T expires 07/20 with no advisories
Lower tax band
Runs and drives as it should no problems at all
The fuel filter clip has been fitted
Top silicone hose fitted
Plenum drains cleared , no leaks
Original rear lights come with the car
Private plate also included
Fitted with zero back boxes, nice sound, not too loud
Rear sub frame is ok, some surface rust but nothing major
There is couple of marks on the car but hardly noticeable
The head unit screen has started to sometimes go blank, radio, cd
Player works fine.
The sat nav unit works but i have disconnected it as where i don?t use the car all the time it slowly drains the battery, this is a common problem.
I was unsure whether to replace the stereo with an original or upgrade to an all in one unit so i have left this for now
Any questions please asking £7,995

Yes indeed it appears to be. In fact for a week or so it was on the Car and Classics site at £7,500 as well as on several other sites in advertisements placed by the dealer, all at £9,950. I told the dealer, who rapidly made sure the C&C ad was removed! Didn't bother thanking me though :)
David
Just seen that the price of the Rover 75 V8 at Hursley Hil & SMG (the Platinum one with only 20 miles on the clock), has been drastically changed from the previous asking price of £29,995. I guarantee you will be shocked!
Go to their site 'Showroom' and check the box next to Make 'Rover' : https://www.hursleyhillgarage.co.uk/...e/usedvehicles
David
Maybe he has had offer and realised he needs to put the price up to stop potential customers?
As has been discussed numerous times he will be lucky to ever sell that.
Steve
Maybe putting all his prices up, prior to the "20% off Sale" in 6 weeks time.
Call me cynical ...
David
lol what a tool. I just don't get "dealers" like this, he must have sat on it for what, 3 years now?!
Sooner or later it will be a non-runner with all the rubbers perishing!
I offered him £23k a few years back and they were fairly rude about what I thought was a good offer!
I know someone who offered him 25k as long as it came with a full warranty and new tyres and he was told that he would not even consider it. The price was all he would accept and not a penny less and it was sold as seen
Steve
If it had been in a notable colour (anything other than insipid platinum) I could have been tempted.....as it stands - no chance.
Hi David. My friend Richard Munslow bought the ZTT V8 from Beech Hill Garage on Wednesday. The Rover V8 was still there.I see our friend at Hursley Hill has Raised his Price? Bye for now.
