Pictures might help us determine the issue - what size are the wheels/tyres
Also, when you registered you'll have received a questionnaire from Tim, send it in and he'll update your membership status and that'll open pandora's box - a whole world of information

hey the tyres are 225 45 18 and there is about 5 inches between tyre and arch at the rear

Welcome along....I would guess that the rear springs have broken at some point, and someone has fitted non V8 springs...
jamtheman

but wouldnt that mean the wrong springs as i didnt think that non v8 rear suspension was anything like v8... im actually a mechanic and cant identify where they come from lol

Well bang goes the wrong size wheels theory - would have to agree with Greeners - wrong springs
What are the last 3 digits of the VIN - see if anyone on here knows the car

ill have a look in the morning and post on here guys no worries. and i take it the non v8 springs would fit in the arms just not have the same height platform then

Whatever you have on the car, it sounds initially at least, that a bodge has been commited using, what sounds like, the suspension from a landrover. :-). Is it the same front and back chap?

hmm maybe lol. no the front looks reasonable. can anyone measure spring hright for me and let me know? maybe i can have half a chance at identifying it then.
Originals have these markings

No need to identify the springs, they're obviously wrong.
Just get the right ones and all will be better :)
PS. Ride height should be around 395mm (398 front 390 rear), measured from centre of wheel to wheel arch, unladen

And you might want to give Rimmers a call as they are listed as boxed set here:
http://www.mgroverpartfinder.com/XPART-MG-ROVER-PART-110-RKB000820---Rimmer+Bros+Ltd.aspx?back=%2fShowProducts.aspx%3fP ageIndex%3d%26part%3dRKB000820%26browse%3d&back1=%2fShowDealerProduct.aspx%3fPageIndex%3d%26p art%3dRKB000820%26browse%3d%26SortBy%3d%26directio n%3d&Amount=2&Price=197.44
Normally prices on Rimmers are for a quantity of one and the don't list whether it's a set price

Well, Jeeps were never known to be fast :)
Get the correct springs will improve handling no end and for a big car it does have reasonable performance
